Project Duration: 6 months. The courthouse continued in use during the project, so the contractor needed to prevent open exposures overnight, coordinate access, and minimize disruption.

Low Country Painting recently completed the exterior repaint of the Colleton County Historic Courthouse, a large-scale commercial project encompassing 20,000 square feet.

The scope included full preparation and repainting of the courthouse’s exterior elevations, detailed caulking and painting of 89 new windows, and refinishing of entry doors, handrail systems, and steps. To preserve the historic character of the building, our team also painted all interior window trim to seamlessly match the existing finishes.

We used PPG Paints for lasting durability and a historically appropriate finish. Given the size and complexity of the courthouse, the project spanned six months, ensuring every detail was handled with care and precision.

In 2024, Low Country Painting completed a full exterior repaint of the historic Colleton County Courthouse in Walterboro, South Carolina.
The scope of work included surface preparation, repair of aging substrates, and the application of premium-grade coatings to preserve and enhance the architectural character of the building.
Special attention was given to historical details, window trim, columns, and cornices to ensure both durability and visual integrity.
The project was completed with minimal disruption to the courthouse's daily schedule as the building remained in operation throughout the duration of the project.The result is a refreshed, long-lasting exterior finish that honors the courthouse’s legacy while protecting it against Lowcountry weather for years to come.
